Configuring the V-Studio 100 for use with other applications

Select an application from below for instructions on configuring the VS-100.

Configuring the VS-100 for use with Ableton Live in OS X


 

  • Setting up as an Audio I/O:


  •  
  1. From the live drop down menu, select Preferences.
  2. Select the Audio tab on the left of the Preferences window.
  3. Assign both your Audio Input Device and Audio Output Device to "VS-100 44.1kHz (10 in, 6 out)".
  • Note: the sample rate displayed will change depending on the sample rate settings of the VS-100.
  1. Click on the Input Config button next to Channel Configuration.
  2. Click on the inputs you would like to make available to Live’s tracks then click OK.
  3. Click on the Output Config button next to Channel Configuration.
  4. Click on the outputs you would like to make available to Live’s tracks then click OK.
  5. Close the Preferences window.

 

  • Setting up as a Control Surface:


  •  
  1. From the Live drop down menu, select Preferences.
  2. Select the MIDI/SYNC tab on the left of the Preferences window.
  3. In the Control Surface column, select “MackieControl” from the drop down list.
  4. Assign the Input and Output in the same row as “MackieControl” to “VS-100 (Control)”.
  5. Close the Preferences windClose the Preferences window.




Configuring the VS-100 for use with Ableton Live in Windows


 

  • Setting up as an Audio I/O:


  •  
  1. From the Options menu, select Preferences.
  2. Select the Audio tab on the left of the Preferences window.
  3. Assign your Driver Type3. Assign your Driver Type to “ASIO” for optimal performance.
  • Note: the VS-100 is also compatible with the MME/DirectX driver option but typically will typically perform better using the ASIO drivers.


  •  
  1. Assign your Audio Device to “VS-100”.
  2. Click on the Input Config button next to Channel Configuration.
  3. Click on the inputs you would like to make available to Live’s tracks then click OK.
  4. Click on the Output Config button next to Channel Configuration.
  5. Click on the outputs you would like to make available to Live’s tracks then click OK.
  6. Close the Preferences window.

 

  • Setting up as a Control Surface:
  1. From the Options menu, select Preferences.
  2. Select the MIDI/SYNC tab on the left of the Preferences window.
  3. In the Control Surface column, select “MackieControl” from the drop down list.
  4. Assign the Input and Output in the same row as “MackieControl” to “VS-100 (Control)”.
  5. Close the Preferences window.





Configuring the VS-100 for use with Cubase 5 in OS X


 

  • Setting up as an Audio I/O:
  1. Select Device Setup from the Devices menu and click on VST Audio System in the Devices list to the left.
  2. In the ASIO Driver drop-down menu, select the VS-100.
  3. Select the driver in the Devices list to open the Driver settings for your audio hardware.
  4. Click on the Open Config App button to bring up the control panel for the VS-100.
  5. Make sure the ports you wish to use have an “X” in the box beneath the Visible column.
  6. Click OK to close the Device Setup menu.





Configuring the VS-100 for use with Cubase 5 in Windows


 

  • Setting up as an Audio I/O:
  1. Select Device Setup from the Devices menu and click on VST Audio System in the Devices list to the left.
  2. In the ASIO Driver drop-down menu, select the VS-100.
  3. Select the driver in the Devices list to open the Driver settings for your audio hardware.
  4. Click on the Control Panel button to bring up the control panel for the VS-100.
  5. Make sure the ports you wish to use have an “X” in the box beneath the Visible column.
  6. Click OK to close the Device Setup menu.





Configuring the VS-100 for use with Logic Pro 8


 

  • Setting up as an Audio I/O:
  1. From the Logic Pro drop down menu, navigate into Preferences | Audio.
  2. On the Core Audio Tab, found under the Devices Tab, set your Device to “VS-100 44.1kHz” if it is not already set as so.
  • Note: the sample rate displayed will change depending on the sample rate settings of the VS-100.


  •  
  1. Click Apply Changes.
  2. Close the Preferences menu.

 

  • Setting up as a Control Surface:


  •  
  1. From the Logic Pro drop down menu, navigate into Preferences | Control Surfaces | Setup…
  2. Click on New | Install…
  3. Select Mackie Designs/Mackie Control/Logic Control and click Add.
  4. If prompted with the message “No new Devices found”, click on Add Manually.
  5. Expand the Mackie Control section and assign both the Out Port and Input to “CONTROL”.
  6. Close the Control Surface Setup window.





Configuring the VS-100 for use with GarageBand in OS X


 

  • Setting up as an Audio I/O:


  •  
  1. From the GarageBand drop down menu, select Preferences.
  2. Click on the Audio/MIDI tab at the top of the General window.
  3. Assign the Audio Input and Audio Output to “VS-100 44.1kHz”.
  • Note: the sample rate displayed will change depending on the sample rate settings of the VS-100.


  •  
  1. When prompted if you really want to change the audio driver, click Yes.
