CDRW or DVDRW Drive not Detected

Last updated on 3/18/2016

The information in this article applies to:

  • Pyro 2004
  • Cakewalk PYRO Plus
  • MeadiaWorks
  • Cakewalk Pyro 5

ProblemPyro does not detect a drive on your system correctly.

Solution:

Make sure you are logged in as Administrator, or have Administrative privileges. After installing Napster, Pinnacle's Instant CD/DVD 8, Roxio's DirectCD and/or Easy CD Creator, Cakewalk may not see any recorders. Several registry entries essential for the correct functioning of the GEARAspi driver set have been corrupted by the DirectCD, Pinnacle, Easy CD Creator or Napster installation routines. Try temporarily uninstalling these programs.

Try installing any driver or firmware update from the CDRW manufacturer's web site. Go to www.windowsupdate.com and download all of the critical and driver updates.

As a last resort, go to Start | Run and Type REGEDIT. Try changing the following registry key values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CAKEWALK MUSIC SOFTWARE\CAKEWALK PYRO\5.0\OPTICAL DRIVE DATABASE
Now click on your CDRW or DVDRW drive.

If the Value for any of these categories are set to No, change them to Yes by double clicking.
