Piano Roll enhancements

The Piano Roll view has many new enhancements to improve workflow and efficiency.

Track icons in Track pane

The Piano Roll Track pane shows track icons.

Assign custom tracks colors in Track pane

You can click the Track Color control in the Track pane to assign custom track colors.

Smart Swiping auto scrolls Track pane

The Track pane will automatically scroll vertically when you reach the top or bottom while Smart Swiping controls.

Show/hide Audio tracks (Professional and Platinum only)

To show/hide audio tracks in the Piano Roll view, click the Piano Roll view View menu and select Show Audio Tracks.

Only show selected tracks when opening the Piano Roll view (Professional and Platinum only)

You can choose to automatically show only tracks that are selected at the time you open the Piano Roll view. To do so, click the Piano Roll view View menu and select Filter to Selection On Open. When enabled, SONAR will automatically apply the track filter when you open the Piano Roll view.

Manual saving of track filter presets (Platinum only)

To save changes to the current track filter preset, right-click the Filter button and select Save on the pop-up menu.

Color enhancements

Locked notes are flat gray.

Only current track shows a gradient.

TAB-to-Note auditions selected note

The selected note will play when using the TAB and SHIFT+TAB shortcuts to select the next or previous Note event.

Nudging a single Note event up or down auditions the note

When nudging a single MIDI Note event up or down to transpose the note, the selected note will play.

To nudge a note up or down, select the note, then do one of the following:

Press NumPad 8 to move the note up or NumPad 2 to move the note down.

Select Process > Nudge > Up to move the note up or Process > Nudge > Down to move the note down.
