Lenses

Lenses allow you to instantly adapt SONAR’s UI to only show elements that are relevant to a specific task or workflow. You can hide features you don’t want to see. Some workflows require access to many features, while other workflows benefit from a simpler and more focused UI.

A Lens is a global preset that stores the current UI configuration. SONAR includes several factory Lenses to get you started, and you can create your own custom Lenses based on your personal preferences. Simply customize SONAR’s look and feel to suit your workflow, then save the configuration as a Lens that can be recalled at any time. Be more productive and efficient by optimizing the UI for simplicity and speed.

A. User Lenses B. Factory Lenses 

The Lenses menu contains the following options:

None. Do not use a Lens, and instead restore the default features and settings.

<List of user Lenses>. Your custom user Lenses are listed alphabetically here.

<List of factory Lenses>. Factory Lenses are listed alphabetically here.

Save Lens. Save any changes to the current Lens.

New Lens. Opens the New Lens dialog box, which lets you specify the new Lens name.

Manage Lenses. Opens the Lens Manager dialog box, which lets you specify which features to enable/disable in Lenses, and which settings to load from Lenses.

Lens Manager (Platinum and Professional only)

The Lens Manager lets you perform the following tasks:

Create, save and delete Lenses.

Specify which features are enabled/disabled in a Lens.

Specify which settings to load from a Lens.

To open the Lens Manager dialog box, click the Lens drop-down menu and select Manage Lenses.

The Lens Manager contains the following settings:

Lens. The Lenses section contains the following controls:

Create new Lens . Creates a new Lens based on the current Lens.

Lenses. Lists all available Lenses.

Save Lens . Saves any changes to the current Lens.

Delete Lens . Deletes the current Lens.

Features. Lists all features that can be disabled in a Lens. Select the features you want to enable in the current Lens.

Settings. Lists all settings that can be loaded by a Lens. When you create a new Lens, all current settings are initially saved with the Lens. From there, you can clear any settings you don’t want to load when you select that Lens. These settings also determine which settings are overwritten in the Lens the next time the Lens is modified. The options are as follows:

Theme. Load the saved UI theme. For details, see UI themes.

Note: the Lens only saves a reference to the theme name, so the theme must exist in order for the Lens to load it. If the referenced theme file cannot be found, then the active theme will be used.

Control Bar Layout. Load the saved Control Bar configuration. For details, see Control Bar overview.

Window Layout. Load the saved window layout, including size and position. This option functions as a global screenset.

Display Settings. Load global display settings that are specified in the Preferences dialog box. For details, see Preferences dialog.

Keyboard Shortcuts. Load any custom keyboard shortcuts that are assigned in Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts. For details, see Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts (Advanced) and Key bindings.

Track Control Manager. Load the saved Track view control configuration (visibility of Volume, Pan, Mute, Solo, Arm for Recording, etc.). For details, see Configuring Track view controls and Track Control Manager.

Track View Control Order. Load the saved Track view control order. For details, see To configure track and bus control order.
